Design Intent

Fernings works with interior designers who expect more than competent delivery. We understand that a scheme succeeds or fails in the details – the way junctions resolve, alignments are held, and finishes are executed under real site conditions.

Our role is to protect design intent from first pricing through to handover. We take the time to understand drawings, schedules and samples properly, then plan sequences, tolerances and interfaces so that what is designed can be built without unnecessary compromise. Where there are risks or clashes, we raise them early, with clear options, rather than leave them to be solved in a rush on site.

Systems, CDM & Communication

Behind this is a structured approach to estimating and project management. Proposals are broken down clearly, with defined allowances and provisional sums, so you can see exactly what has been priced. Variations are logged, costed and agreed through the portal rather than via ad‑hoc emails, giving you and your client a single, traceable record of change.

We work in line with CDM duties on the contractor side, taking responsibility for the practical implementation of health and safety on site. Method statements, risk assessments, inductions and permits are treated as part of delivering the design safely, not as a separate box‑ticking exercise.

The client portal brings these threads together – drawings, RFIs, programme updates, site notes and variation approvals in one place – so everyone is working from the same, current information. It reduces noise, avoids crossed wires and lets you focus your time on design decisions rather than chasing paperwork.

Assurance

Fernings is a member of the Federation of Master Builders and the Guild of Master Craftsmen, and we carry full public liability and all-risks insurance. Designers and their clients can be confident that both the works and the existing property are appropriately insured for the duration of the project.

On site, we maintain orderly, well‑supervised environments: clear lines of control, briefed trades and simple site rules that support safe, predictable working. For designers, that means fewer surprises, fewer awkward conversations with clients, and a smoother path from concept to completed space.
